Jennifer DeRose, Principal Investigator
Jennifer DeRose M.A., R.P.A., has over 25-years of experience in cultural resources management and over 20-years working as a fulltime professional ethno-historic-archaeologist within the Plateau cultural region of North America. Jennifer is a certified Register of Professional Archaeologist (RPA) and holds a certificate of GIS and historic preservation and restoration. A master of design studies (MDS) in historic preservation with an architectural history emphasis is slated for spring 2025. She meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Standards (36 CFR 61) for prehistoric archaeology, historic archaeology, conservation, cultural anthropology, curation, folklore, history, and traditional cultural properties.
Jennifer possesses an M.A. in Anthropology (2006) from the University of Idaho. Her ethno-archaeological research resulted in an ethno-dendrology compendium on the traditional use, lore, knowledge, significance, and preservation value of forest practices and culturally modified trees to the Schitsu’umsh (Coeur d’Alene) Tribe. She obtained two B.S. degrees (Anthropology & Environmental Studies) in 2001 from the University of Utah. She is also a 2001 cadet sergeant honors graduate of the Army Reserves Officer Training Corps (ROTC).
Jennifer started A CRM Consultant in 2016 and has served as a professional Principal Investigator since 2009. Prior to forming A CRM Consultant, she worked for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe (Lake Mgmt. Dept.) as a Cultural Resource Program Manager from 2009 to 2016. From 2004-2009 she advanced from a culture tech for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe's Culture Department to a full time associate archaeologist with a consulting company.
Jennifer completed an archaeology and geomorphology Great Basin field school from the University of Utah in 2000. Subsequently, she received ethnographic collections training from the Utah Museum of Natural History (UMNH) in 2001. She obtained novice certification in paleontology (field / lab / teaching experience) from the Utah Friends of Paleontology (UFOP) in 2001. During the summers Jennifer participated in exchange programs working with a Navajo (Dine’) family, the Nature Conservancy, and Life Care. She completed an herbarium / ecology internship with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.
Jennifer is certified in the following: 40hr hazwoper, MSHA, CPR, first aid, and Idaho ICP to conduct cultural resource investigation project activities within superfund clean-up areas. Useful additional experience includes: Class A drivers license with doubles/triples, hazmat endorsements; Idaho boater licensed with six years operating experience, K-12 and college teaching, western horseback; zoo aid & animal lab handling; landscaping; wilderness survival; rifle & archery marksmanship; field tactical. She is also involved with the Northwest Tattoo Museum & Tattooing located in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
